Planting Sunflowers

The weekend before staff trip, Mary Ruth and I decided to make our driveway a little more exciting by planting sunflowers at the end of the lane. We had started the seeds early this spring, so the little plants were very ready to be out of their confining pots and into the soil!

With wheelbarrow and water bucket in tow, we head down the lane.

Dig a hole, dig a hole, darlin's!

Batting insects.

We hope they grow strong, despite the gusts of wind from traffic and the animalitos that may want a nibble of their tender leaves. They will be fun to watch!

Back from Staff Trip

I have returned from a delightful week of orientation training with the WW staff. Its kind of fun to be on this (far) side of the training... I felt like I hardly did anything all week! Like a vacation or somethin'!

Due to the lateness of the hour, I am going to steer you to my new friend Aryn's blog for a few pictures of our trip. Its nice to have some new friends. :)

Our Day Off

On our day off, Mary Ruth and I traveled to the distant land of Virginia (Virginia, Minnesota, that is) to find some entertainment. We struck big at the thrift stores there, finding "new" old treasures in a Goodwill, Salvation Army, and the Used Goods consignment shop where almost everything they sold was red or purple... and named! (i.e. Maggie, Ellen, Molly, Dora, etc.)

Vintage mirror and vintage earrings... yep, 25 cents each!

...Sometimes the urge to play "dress up" still haunts me...
